An authorized recipient begins the process by directing the applicant to the nearest livescan fingerprint image capture station in our network of facilities.

The captured fingerprint images collected by the capture station are submitted to the Credential Services system where they are stored and forwarded to the appropriate State and/or Federal repositories for identification.

The results of the repositories' criminal history background checks are provided directly to the authorized recipient. The number of offenses identified in the report is maintained in the CS database.

The authorized recipient initiates a validation procedure to ensure that the intended person's fingerprints were used to conduct the background check.
